What’s in a Turkey Box?

This is what's inside a "Turkey Box" provided by Hays County Area Food Bank.

1 frozen turkey

3 cans of corn

3 cans of green beans

1 cans of cranberry sauce

1 large can of yams

2 boxes of stuffing mix

2 boxes of instant mashed potatoes

1 large can of fruit cocktail

2 boxes of Jell-O

Each November, low income families throughout Hays County receive a 10-12 pound turkey and the trimmings for a holiday meal from the food bank. More than 2,195 families received a box in 2010.

This enormous effort is made possible through the generous donations of food and money during our annual Turkeys Tackling Hunger campaign in the fall.
